For GM I applied for a package structure engineer. Basically making sure parts are interchangeable and everything functions together well at different trim levels.
And at VW I will be applying for Accessory Sales Program Structure or something like that. Basically the people that structure the back-end of accessory purchases and installation.

If you're willing to move, MB, VW and BMW are hiring tons of people here in China. All positions and experience levels.

I'm 8 months out of college. And been working professional jobs for pretty much the whole time. One for the first 2 months, and I've been at my current job for almost 6 months.

Look at jobs designed for recent graduates. A lot of the manufacturers have rotational programs like Chrysler's CIE and Ford's FCG programs. You will have a much better chance of getting through those than just random job postings on their career portals.
